The steering group has identified the following as the
Network's Aims & Objectives
Aims
- To promote and support the development and sustainability of multi-site
open studios events
- To Promote and develop the market for high quality, locally created
original art, craft and design.
- To encourage a wider public recognition and engagement with working
artists.
- To promote the importance of local artists to the economic, educational
and social well being of communities.
- To support in association with local events, the career development
of artists
- To lobby with events, regionally and nationally, making a wide range
of agencies aware and encouraging their support.
Objectives
- To encourage and enable the active sharing of information, ideas and
developments between events across England, the rest of the UK, Europe
and the world.
- To promote regionally and nationally, the creative, economic and social
importance of events and their related activities.
- To encourage and support the development of new and existing events.
- To encourage, with partners, the development, facilitating and supporting
of complementary activities such as artists training, community and
education projects, student involvement and cross event exchanges.
To achieve these Aims and Objectives, the Network has
identified the following finctions.
Functions
- To provide, maintain and develop an event information /ideas exchange
- by creating and maintaining a web site catering to the needs of event
organisations, artists and the public.
- To organise and support exchanges, collaborations and joint projects
between member events and others in the UK and internationally
- To organise a biennial national conference of member events and an
annual public promotion of all events.
- To carry out an ongoing programme of advocacy and promotion on behalf
of all events including a regularly updated calendar of events.
- To research and develop practical support, applicable to all events,
e.g. a national liability insurance scheme, the introduction of a zero
interest art purchase scheme and licensing issues.
