LIKELY CRITERIA FOR PROJECTS

Each year of the Culture10 programme has a different theme. These themes have emerged from working in partnership.

For example,“Hotbed 2004” focused on world-class fashion, design and gardens. “2005 Alive” celebrated four festivals. This year the theme is “Welcome the World”, celebrating diversity and coinciding with the hosting of a world summit on arts and culture in June. Next year the theme is “Design for the Times”, celebrating all aspects of contemporary design and architecture.

FUNDING & SUPPORT IS NOT GUARANTEED. However, Culture10 will consider support for projects that are transformational, distinctive, rooted and contemporary, challenging, ambitious and world-class.

Projects will need to:

• fit with the theme
• be built on County Durham's creative strengths
• attract media coverage beyond the region
• bring exceptional cultural talent to the county and support the development of new international relationships
• attract new and bigger audiences and increase participation
• contribute to the county's economy.
